The beginning of the 2012 is quite difficult for me. Most time for the last two weeks I have spent in bed feeling unwell hence unhappy hence unable to blog. Although I am not feeling any better, today my sense of duty and my uneasy conscience won my weakness and sickness ... and here I am. And despite the way I feel, I will share with you a beautiful and funny story about unusual and talented monkey.

Pan Popi (Mr Popi) has a chance to become as popular as King Kong or Tarzan foster parents, however he is definitely far more significant for design world then his famous relatives as he is not a material but an artist.

Although everyone who is keen on design can recognise the Panton Chair, not everyone knows its history. But fear not – it is just an essence of the information.

Danish designer, Verner Panton in 1960s and 1970s was known for his original and imaginative designs in the fields of furniture, lighting and textiles. The trademark of his works was colour. However, he was also enthusiastic about the design potential of plastic, a new material at the time. He spent many years on trying to make a comfortable, all-purpose plastic chair moulded in a single piece. The result was the first version of “S” shaped Panton Chair developed with Vitra and finally introduced to the public in 1967.

I am sure that even those of you who has never been in any Legoland park have probably heard about Miniland or maybe have seen some pictures of it. Miniland is the centerpiece of every Legoland. This is the part with internationally known buildings rebuilt in detail of Lego bricks on a scale of 1:20. Visitors from different European countries would find buildings from their home countries. The miniatures are build with a special attention to details and creativity. They really are a masterpiece.
