Collectible dolls. Show me your doll...
Let me explain. When I was searching for mini houses I found many dolls houses and furniture sites. And dolls. The little girl inside me didn't want to quit these sites. I told her “We have to, duty first. We will come back here”. And we did. I've decided to write some articles about collectible dolls although they are not directly connected with home design. Well, I haven't took a pledge not to write about other items that touch me - the aesthetics is the priority and these dolls are very aesthetic.
I am not one of the dolls collectors. However, I can truly understand people who collect them. The dolls are beautiful, top quality handcrafted, they stimulate the imagination and develop creativity.
In the next few articles you will find the wide range of collectible dolls: fashion dolls, dolls inspired by films or history, dolls with identity and those you can customize from toe nail to hair.
One of the most beautiful dolls I found are ball-jointed dolls (articulated with ball and socket joints) made in Asia. Their style has been described as “both realistic and influenced by anime”. They commonly range in size from about 60 centimetres for the larger dolls, 40 cm for the mini dolls, and all the way down to 10 cm or so for the tiniest of the tiny BJDs. They are intended for adult collectors and customizers. They are made to be easy to customize, by painting, changing the eyes, wig, nail polish, make up and so forth.
Here are some examples of dolls made by Chinese company Dollzone.
The dolls below are made by Island Doll.
